Andrew Oliver Challenge Hike Why Andrew Oliver? Andrew Oliver was a Cub Scout, a Scout and Venture Scout with the 1st Tadcaster Scout Group. Following this he continued to be an Assistant Scout Leader. Throughout this period he was an extremely enthusiastic member of the Scout Movement and set a good example to all those with whom he came in contact. In June 1986 Andrew died from leukemia just a few months before his 21st birthday. His mother, Sue, donated a shield to the Scout section of Wetherby District because Andrew gained so much pleasure from his Scouting. Andrew was particularly keen on the outdoor aspects of Scouting such as camping and hiking, and it was for this reason that the shield has been offered for competition in these activities.
