Ian Chappell returned home this evening proudly sporting his official Marathon Des Sables Finisher T-shirt.

Ian completed the race 264th out of more than 700 competitors.

He posed for a photo for the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper under the hand-made banner his family had produced.

He said afterwards: " Again, I'd like to thank family, colleagues, and friends who have supported me throughout the event, and to everyone who sent me encouraging messages."
