I am writing to let you know about the fantastic facilities and activities available FREE for young people at the Derek Fatchett City Learning Centre, a state-of-the-art ICT centre. The Derek Fatchett CLC works closely with schools, local community groups and businesses to promote ‘learning at the heart of the community’. The team at DFC is comprised of a handful of staff who each have a special role to play in the effective running of the centre.
During term time the CLC is largely used by schools and booked for conferences by local government organisations. However during the summer holidays the centre is only used by a handful of groups. I would like to promote and encourage full usage of the centre during the summer months and am contacting youth organisations who may be interested in using the centre or who could promote activities to young people.
Do you have a group that you would like to bring to the centre or know of individuals that might be interested in taking part in some of the summer projects? This summer we will be running a range of activities including Battle of the Bands, Horror Film, Animated Music Video, CAD CAM and an accredited course in interactive media, please see flyer overleaf. Facilities at the centre can also be booked independently such as: the music studio and Apple Macs with access to music production software, the T.V Studio, video cameras and high quality stills cameras or training rooms with access to a wide range of software.
All activities are free for 7-19 year olds, but if there are also some “older” young people in your group it shouldn’t be a problem so please get in touch and let us know what you need.
